The London Oriana Choir is seeking a second resident singing teacher to provide singing lessons to members and also to be closely integrated with the choir's rehearsals, workshops and auditions.

The choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings (6.30 to 9.30) in a school in Westminster, and members sign up for individual 30 minute lessons during rehearsals. Lessons are held in the school's music rooms which have pianos. All members are strongly encouraged to have lessons - some have regular lessons, others more occasionally.

Applicants should be keen to engage with the life of the choir and work alongside our musical director and existing teacher. They must be confident teaching adults who are experienced musicians and should ideally have professional soloist experience. The rate is £25 per half hour lesson. (Venue costs are met by the choir).

Applicants should send CVs to chris.matthews@londonoriana.com by Friday 26th February 2016. Some information about the choir follows below and our website is at www.londonoriana.com

The London Oriana Choir is one of Britain’s leading choral groups with 120 auditioned members aged 18 to 80, all united by a shared love of choral singing. Dominic Peckham is the musical director of the choir. The choir has performed in all of London’s major concert halls, churches and cathedrals. It has recently been featured on BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 4 and Classic FM and its most recent recording, "From Babylon to Brazil: Songs of Love and Devotion" is available on Spotify and ITunes. The Choir prides itself on an eclectic repertoire and last July performed Pete Townshend’s ‘Classic Quadrophenia’ with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Alfie Boe at the Royal Albert Hall, to critical acclaim.

Each year the London Oriana Choir embarks on at least one overseas tour, which is always marked both by fine music and a chance for the choir to enjoy its famous social side. In 2015, the choir sang in Lisbon, Portugal, and have just returned from performing in the Cathedral Church of St Mary the Virgin, Edinburgh with the Edinburgh Singers and in Glasgow University Chapel with the Glasgow University Chapel Choir and Glasgow Youth Choir. The choir has a strong focus on education and collaboration, enjoying engaging with local groups wherever it visits.
